Main / Anatomy

Most of Canmeph 2's native residents are one of two species:

  • WolfSkunk (Canis Mephit)
  • Dryger (Physignathus Tigris)

This document covers the medical anatomy and morphology between the two species. There are a lot of similarities, and a lot of differences. We may come off as rule-based, but we're simply observing the rules.

Terminology

The use of "race" in terms of differentiating between groups is deprecated. The correct terms are "breed" and "class." As the latter is more common, we will use that term. We also shorten "hermaphrodite" to "herm," as such are very common. We use the classification of "ideal hermaphrodites" to represent herms.

Measurements follow standard foot-inch rule for body measurements, and match those of Sol 3. If you're from there, you'll have no problems following.

Basic Anatomy: the Default class Canmephian

Commonly, a basic WolfSkunk or Dryger stands between 9' to 12' tall on digitigrade legs, strong enough to hold the massiveness of both species. Each hand has five fingers, including a duplicated ring finger, and a single thumb. Both also have two hearts which beat in synchronous fashion, helping blood flow.

WolfSkunks themselves have only one gender, herm. This is a combination of male and female genitalia, similar to that of Chakats. However, since they are standing upright, an external scrotum is necessary. To accommodate, the male genitalia is arranged to be higher than in an ordinary (Dryger or human) male. In addition, WolfSkunks may have ether finely balanced hormones, or more likely (and lately) hormones which "overlay" and do not interfere with each other. WolfSkunks who fall under the latter are called Second Generation WolfSkunks. They have the interesting ability to truly "send and receive," and feel it all. None the less, neither the breasts nor the penii nor the scrotum are affected.

Drygers have three genders: male, female, and herm. Dryger herms differ only slightly from WolfSkunks, so we will not duplicate much of the information. Dryger males and herms however have what could be described as a "tailcock" or tail which ends with a completely sheathed penis. Dryger females and herms also have a dual bust -- they have two rows of breasts.

A rare fourth Dryger gender and second WolfSkunk gender, a neuter, or natural eunuch, has been known to exist and sometimes is given birth at the same rate as a Breeder WolfSkunk. This gender has no external genitalia and has other hormones that regulate growth and (non)sexual nature. Eunuchs also, like male and herm Drygers, have the tailcock so elimination of liquid waste is possible. Eunuchs are shown to be very toned, and because of their sexless anatomy are able to walk nude in public w/o legal ramifications.

Drygers may have more than one tail, and rarely, WolfSkunks more than three. Sometimes, for reward of an extraordinary deed, a group of priests would confer and bestow extra tails onto a Canmephian - usually given in even numbers so the fur would always have an odd number of tails. The Canmephian need not be near the priests to receive them -- in one case WolfSkunk RedWolf was on Sol 3, and has hir tailcount increased to fifteen, to hir shock and surprise.

Inflation

Almost all WolfSkunks, and some Drygers who have gone through an enabling procedure, have the ability to inflate their breasts, penii, and scrotum. This has a subtle effect on society, which is not covered here. However, needless to say, caution is taken with inflation.

Usually, air and water are used in inflation. Recently, a benign protine-based gel/foam has been introduced by WolfSkunk Johnson? with WolfSkunk RedWolf?'s aid... and it's getting quite the attention for having the right weight-to-volume distribution. Permanent expansion can be done with ether a special protien/nutrient solution, or its gel version, introduced by WolfSkunk Occlan?.

Breasts and testicles inflate with microscopic pockets, creating a foam-like expansion. Depending on the deflated size, drastic (and sometimes dramatic) effects can occur. The penis is double-bladdered, though, with dedicated pockets for blood and a main "cavern'. This cavern is criss-crossed with muscle strands for deflation, and vital areas are additionally protected. This prevents most cases of blood loss, while enforcing a "length over width" policy on inflation. To aid with both semen and urine ejection, the urinary canal is constructed partially like an aorta, which can contract and push. We call this the "urinary pump."

Permanently expanding the penis does have some conditions. At a certain point, natural erectile ability is lost, usually by the time the head of the deflated penis is hanging near the paws of a standing Canmephian. On Taurs, this restriction is around two to three times the lower body's length.

To allow expansion to be easily performed, the skin of the breasts, penii, and scrotum are a "bio-latex", which can stretch to accommodate the expansion. Inflation is performed by pumping air, fluid, or gel in through the inflation canals. The canal openings are the belly button for the breasts, and the vagina for both the cock and balls in a herm. Male Drygers who become inflatable pair off at the belly button.

To aid with inflation, several micropumps are commonly implanted in the inflation canals. These are controlled by either the person's InfoStick or GlobalComm PDA. Both communicate with the micropumps to maintain the proper pressure for the correct size a person wants.

Sex and Reproduction

The WolfSkunk and Dryger gestation period is between six to nine months. Early births are very rare. "C-sections" or surgical removal of a baby is uncommon due to the muscular holding of the pelvis. During birthing, the pelvis expands to ease birth.

Baby Canmephians, called "cubs" or "kits", are generically called "fuzzballs" for obvious reasons until their natural fur grows out in a few weeks. Cubs/Kits slowly grow to about 6', when they hold until their teenage years. During that time, the popular "growth spurt" happens, usually ending at age 17. However, some Canmephians have it delayed and shortened, such that the growth is drastically accelerated and very painful for the affected person. These furs are called "late bloomers."

Breeds/Classes

"It's not all cheese and wine." --WS Charles III (old Brit WS Monarch)

In addition to the Default class of WolfSkunks and Drygers, there are many more. There are several base classes and many more mixed classes.

NOTE ABOUT CLASSES AND JOBS: There is no law preventing any class from taking a field divergent from their usual course. This is observed behavior. Some classes are too enthusiastic that all take their field.

Common to WolfSkunks and Drygers are these classes:

More common to WolfSkunks (due to Cobrawolf meddling) are:

Mixed Classes

Some mutations can be mixed together, creating different classes of WolfSkunks, Drygers, or even mixed DrygerSkunks.

Two-Headed Classes

Unlike the Conjoined class, these classes follow the philosophy of "one body, one mind." A central brain located in their chest controls their entire body and contains their personality, while supplemental brains in each head provide additional processing power. However, there are cases of schizophrenia which split the personality. Mild schizophrenia is controllable and treatable, but extreme schizophrenia can only be dealt with by reclassifying the affected fur as a Conjoined class Canmephian.

Common Differences

Tail length

Tail length is constant once the Canmephian reaches puberty. For Drygers, it is more than their leg length, but only slightly. For WolfSkunks, it is between two-thirds to twice their entire body length.

Striping Variations

WolfSkunks may have a lack of stripes or even tiger striping. Dryger fur variations run the gammut of feline fur patterns.

Minor Mutations (Modifiers to the Class)

Some slight modifications do occur, and most accommodations are made. Some are a hindrance, while other helpful.

Common mutations are:

WolfSkunk only mutations are:

Dryger only mutations are:

Rare (sometimes deadly) mutations are:
